In 2019, the Nigerian Shippers Council implemented a new regulation, making ICTN mandatory for all shipments to Nigeria. Any cargo that is not accompanied by an ICTN certificate will cause severe consequences and a penalty. But if you are using Nigeria for transit purposes, in some cases, ICTN is not required.
Although it is mandatory and crucial, it is one of the most overlooked certificates.

CTN certificate services give me peace of mind knowing our licenses and certifications are always current. The automated reminders are a lifesaver, and their detailed reporting keeps everything transparent and organized.
What are the required documents?
Bill of Lading: A draft copy can be used for the application process.
Commercial Invoice: Detailing the goods being shipped.
Freight Invoice: Necessary if the freight cost isn’t specified on the commercial invoice.
Export Customs Declaration: Details must match all other documents, especially if it’s not a cross-trade shipment.

What are the consequences of not having it?
The ECTN must be validated five days before the ship’s arrival at the latest. If you don’t provide it by then, you will be facing twice the amount of the cost of the ICTN plus the regulation charges determined by the Nigerian National Port Officials.
Certificate cost depends on the number of Bill of Ladings and the containers, the country of origin, the port of discharge, etc. This is why we can’t give you an exact price for the CTN. But if you share your shipment’s details with us we can provide you the best charges for your certificate. We offer free quotation.
